Although fibreglass roofs are superior and much more resistant to heat, moisture, water and fire than alternative flat roofing materials meaning that they need much less maintenance as a result, they still do require a level of maintenance and cleaning and this blog is going to tell you everything you need to know to clean your fibreglass roof so that you can get the most out of its lifespan. There are only TWO things that you need to do to maintain your fibreglass roof:

You of course need to look out for pinholes, water pools, moisture damage etc, but in terms of maintaining, the two C’s is your go to. Here’s what you need to do:
Clean
If you want to keep your fibreglass roof installation looking as good as new, then just like anything else, a little cleaning is necessary from time to time. You’ll want to make sure firstly that if you are doing the cleaning yourself that your fibreglass roof is safe and easy to access. Then using a long-handled mop and a bucket filled with warm soapy water, sweep the debris, leaves water, dirt etc away, lightly and gently.
Be careful not to create a slippery surface with the soapy water. Garden hoses are just as effective, when applying a lot of water to the area just ensure that water isn’t gathering and sitting in one area (pooling).
Finally, if you are using a pressure washer then avoid using one that uses hot steam as this can impact on the longevity of your fibreglass roof.
Coat
Once you’ve cleaned the roof and of course allowed it to dry back to normal, you’ll want to apply a new layer/layers of coat. Did you know that applying a new layer of coating is as effective as insulating and protects the interior from moisture? Here are some Q&A’s for you:
